The school commenced as part of the EAFS program with an Instructional Leader in 2015. The focus was to develop a positive learning culture around best practice and have systematic programs and processes in place to identify and address student learning needs including:
- Evidence – based teaching practices to increase student learning outcomes.
- Teachers differentiating curriculum to meet the needs of individual students.
- Increased engagement of students in their learning.
- Use of data to inform teaching practice so that students are being taught at point of need.
In 2020 our school has two Instructional Leaders employed in the position at SGPS. The focus is to build student and teacher capacity in both literacy and numeracy by:
- Realign the school plan, to clearly describe the shared expectations and targets for improvement in literacy and numeracy outcomes.
- Build teacher capacity to identify the literacy and numeracy learning needs of students K-2.
- Identify teacher professional learning needs and providing high quality professional learning and in-class support..
- Monitor the impact of practice and interventions on student literacy and numeracy learning K- 2.
- Support teacher use of the Literacy and Numeracy Continuum as tools for reporting student progress, Kindergarten to Year 2, at 5 weekly intervals.
- Maintain Kindergarten, Year 1, Year 2, Year 3 student level literacy and numeracy achievement data as well as any data required for the purposes of evaluation
- Lead school participation in all evaluation activities and report against agreed timelines.
